TiVo Mobile

Verizon Wireless customers who have TiVo will be able to access their on-the-go tv schedules on their cell phones early this summer. This is the latest innovative idea from TiVo to differentiate itself in the market.

"TiVo isn't just about a great way to watch television but it's also about a great way to manage your TV life, and to do that, we realize TiVo can't be isolated. It has to be integrated with all these other digital devices in people's lives," TiVo CEO Tom Rogers said in an interview.

While clever, Tivo really needs to do more than allowing access to its service through other routes. In reality, if you had internet access through your phone and could surf the web with say a treo 600/650 or a blackberry or whatever, you could already access the tivo website and change your recording schedule.

well faze, for the four people that already have the setup you mention and dont mind using a CELL PHONE WEB BROWSER, this may not be news. I think it's a small step, but one in a good direction no less.

Ya, I agree with Justin. At least we know they are racking their brains to think of new ways to improve their service. They need to keep thinking along those lines.

i guess, my real point is that this really is nothing new. They should be makig deals with friggin cable and satellite providers to put their service on their hardware ala DirecTV for the past few years (alas no more).
